Two jobs !! Story of my work life

Its the last day of the year , here I am sitting in my nice rotating chair , staring at all the meeting rooms and other cubicles for signs of life nearby.. Its 10 in the morning , and still the whole office is deserted , even lights are not switched on , no sound of the usual keystrokes in the keyboard , no regular chat messages sound , and it looks like its Sunday . . . Still , am sincere , here I am in office , don know what to do.  ( I don have leave's to take , I need them later !! ) . And whats more interesting than sitting in your desk  with a high speed internet, with no people  to stare at your monitors . So here I am , the sincere , in my place from 830 am !!
Even in regular days , people turn up late in the morning , and thats what is the symbol of a product based company,people tell .. Its good and bad too !!
Good thing ,there is no time line , just come and go whenever yo r comfortable , but defn shd be here when your team is in need of you...
Bad thing , when work is heavy , u cant leave at your ease , even after 7,8 u hav to stay in here..

So , here I am , its 10.15 now , still no signs of life.. So wat do I do , i am just explorin the contents in my hard disk , still nothing interesting, songs I thought , no its already deserted office , and sound ll be clearly audible outside , as I don have a earphone  ( though there are no people to hear my songs , or to stare at me for hearing songs, still its a part of my conscience ) . So I was staring , at the desktop, there is a shortcut titled " SAP Logon " , i thought ok its been 2 hours now , I didn even open my outlook to check the official mails , while I had facebook and gmail opened in my chrome , the moment my system booted.. So I opened my outlook , waited for it to update its folders, and then came a mail , stating , Manager on leave today.. Woah !!
Wat a feel it gives you , that too for a fresher , no words can tel yo tat ,  hav to feel tat!! So I minimized outlook too , and again I saw "SAP Logon"  , I thought no way !! , How many times do i do the same , create a bank structure , create a loan product , create a customer , no no no no  !! My CPU inside my head was telling me not to do the same today too..
So I waited for my frens to come , Oops , one of my close pal in company wen to Goa for new year celeb, other guy is coming late today !!
So its 10.30 now , I thought why don I post what I am doin here , so here I am drafting down my work here..

So , 2010 is going to end.. What a year it has been for me !!
I graduated with distinction , so now am Sivaram.S B.Tech .. ( Am Engineer Sivaram daddy , like Varanam Airam style ) .
I joined my first job " Systems Software Engineer " at Hewlett-Packard, June 21st 2010.  I was in networking wing of HP-UX , its all confidential , not to be told outside, I tell myself , " avlokula namba worth ila ,ena terium enaku, perusa confidentiality nu feel panra " , ( I don kno anything in it , so there is no breach of Confidentiality Clause,am not worthy of it  )  .. So it was a happy 115 days in HP , doing nothing other than the communicator chats , reading the same page of the document of the project, not even proceeding one page a day.  We were a batch of 31 , though count was decreasing week by week , stil I enjoyed being there, with all those people from various parts of the country, struggled a lot as I know only Tamil n English, and people wer alwas speakin in Hindi .. I got quite a no. of frens there, and one of them actually inspired me to write a blog !! I had a nice mentor , there , so down to earth , helping me out everywhere , adviced me for my   career , even told me to join SAP , guided me a lot , even told me how to quit , how to speak to the hr etc..
Its rare to get a mentor , to guide yo even to write a resig letter !!

So I quit , now joined SAP ,on Oct 18,2010, its been 78 days here !! Am enjoying SAP. I felt more comfortable , its going good, and again got a nice team , nice frens .. Going good !! Having a nice gang here too hang around with  , i feel like college again , chatting afer lunch ,jus strolling around , woah nice , and I get paid for it !!

These are the significant happenings in this year , a couple of important family functions too , my grandparent's sadabishekam and my sister's engagement also..

And other significant happenings , I saw , a test match live in Chinnaswamy stadium , first time I am experienced seein match in ground.

And most important of all , I started writing this blog this year ! ( Date , check out my first post's date )

Wats this , sudden sound of life , some guy ping'ed me in communicator, atlas my frnd came..going for my tea !!!
I thank God ,for a good year 2010  and hope for a good 2011 too  !! Wishing yo too the same..

A tribute to evergreen comedians of tamil cinema

Cinema , in its early stage was considered to be one of the greatest inventions in Science , which was out of reach for most of the people, time progressed, and now its really a part and parcel of our life..  Started as a medium for educating people, now its gone far from its initial objective.. As Maniratnam , one of India's great directors has quoted in his movie  'Iruvar ' , cinema is like a medium to convince people , to draw people's attention , which is far more powerful than poems,stories, articles , journals..
Now , whether boon or bane , cine stars are more attracted to making money than the passion for it . And almost , whoever has convinced the people on screen as a hero , is considered to be a real-life hero ..And those hero's utilize that following for their political reasons , as well as social welfare activities..But there are some , whom everybody admires , still not in the political arena or even small screen or even in ad's which help them make a lot of money..

Cinema , now has evolved a lot and one of its primary motto is to entertain people and , comedians perform a vital role in it. One such pair is Koundamani and Senthil.. One of the evergreen pairs of comedians which Tamil Cinema has produced.

They are fondly called as "Laurel and Hardy of Tamil Cinema".

Goundamani , originally born in a village in Coimbatore,  was interested in theatrical dramas and was actively a part of it from his early days. His original name was Mani , and when he entered into cinema at the age of 16 , he used to counter everyone with his one-liners or one-word witty answers, was called as Counter-Mani , and later it became Goundamani..

Senthil , born in Ramanthapuram district on the other hand , did not have interest in dramatics initially , he ran away from his home at the age of 12 , and was working as bar-attender in a bar , and a sales boy in a oil shop. Thats where he realized his talent of timing , people were coming to him just to speak with him for sometime , so that they can get relieved from their daily hectic work life.  So he nurtured his skill , and then later joined with Goundamani in cinema..

They are very hilarious , and they have produced some outstanding comedies in Tamil Cinema , they were almost part of all movies , and they were ruling the roost for almost two decades. They were just amazing in their body language, timing , and their dialogue delivery. They were and one of the best in Slapstick comedies till date.

Few famous comedies which the duo has made, the "vazha palam " joke , in  the movie "Karakattakaran" , and in the same movie , the car joke , the one dealing with the history of the car, Gentleman where the duo perfomed many rib-tickling jokes with the backdrop of westernization , and in Indian , RTO and a agent comedy is still known widely , and cheered by all generation of people.  And  one of the best evergreen comedies ever , in the movie 'Jai Hind ' where Goundamani plays a cop and Senthil comes in his dream in various avatar's , like Sandalwood smuggler Veerapan , Puli kuti,puna Kuti , and 'Lucky Man' playing roles of Yeman and ChitraGupta ,too name a few..

Goundamani's one liners are even now famous and still always a part in cinema , to mention a few , " Arasial'la idalam sadaranam pa' , ' Start Music ' , 'Ida poye thanjavur'la irukuru kalvetla eludi,angae utkaru,pinnadi vara thalaimuraiku thevai padum ' , 'Nan pathavadu pass , neenga eight fail na', ..

Later at one point of time , they gave way for the youngsters and they have laid a path for the up-coming comedians..To mention a few highlights of Goundamani and Senthil , the duo did not even endorse one product, while the whole set of Cine actors were earning huge sum in ad's . Goundamani said no to small screen serials, ad's , and even never expressed his political feelings and ideas to the media..

Even now , Goundamani attends important functions in Cine field, but never lashes out  comments or his ideas about others to the media...

Scams !! Scams !! Everywhere

Hi all !!
This post is based on real life incidents and all incidents and characters portrayed are NOT FICTIOUS and they do live in the same couintry as ours and the resemblance meant is DELIBRATELY made and NOT COINCIDENTAL .

Consider the scenario below ,

A guy gets married to a girl (this is not the news , of course !! its common ,  guys getting married to many girls and girl getting married to many guys is not a news nowadays folks ,the former can never be a news !!)

They go to Govt. office for registration of their marriage ,
the registrar charges  hundred bucks for doing that registaration  in addition to the amount which is to be paid legally . ( Legally , does registration have a cost involved  ?? I have no idea .)

Then after say some years , they have a child , assume the child as a boy . ( No gender bias meant !!  )

So they have a boy now , they have to do the formalities for getting the birth certificate for him.. Consider the case that he was born in Govt . hospital , in additon the medical charges , they do charge some amount for getting that certificate done. Cos , the hospital has to approve that the child was born there in that hospital . So they charge 500 Rs for that extra than the legal amount.

And the boy grows up , in India of course Education comes first ( a good idea , infact ,thank god !!) , for admission in a school , even in Govt. schools they charge admission fee , donation fee etc. In private schools , there is no doubt in that !! , say Rs 10000 is given as donation fee .

And then comes Ration card issue , say another 500 Rs for it .

So time passes , he learns driving vehicles , and a  taffic police catches him for driving without a licence , no offence if the boy gives the cop 100 Rs , if the bike doesn have RC Book , Insurance etc. its still more, and most important nowadays is helmet . If boy gets caught without any of the above , minimum of 500 Rs will be taken .

So the guy , gave the bribe and decided to take license as soon as he becomes eligible , so he does. For taking licence again , pay more , get it done . I don know how people know the original cost in taking a license. Its 250 Rs for a 4 wheeler . And we all pay minimum thrice the amount and most of case more than 5 times the amount. Say he has given 1000 Rs for it .

And then passport , much worse than ration card and license . Police verification everything will take 1000 Rs extra minimum than the prescribed amount .

And then , he marries , the cycle continues !!
He buys a home , again registration for it , electricity board , Water supply everybody has to approve , and nowadays the cost is not per house and nor consumption too ,it depends on your value of the house. The higher , the more you pay !!
Everywhere he goes the same question follows ,
 " Whats the value of your house ? "
Minimum of 1 Lakh he will be paying on the whole for it .

And then he retires , for getting the pention amount or the final dues, nobody gives it immediately, again minimum of 10K has to be spent for it !!

All these incidents, did anybody find anything like a news , its just part and parcel of Indian Life . Add up the amount involved in the process , and all the amounts mentioned above , are approximate and it comes with a very big * saying CONDITIONS DEFINITELY APPLY , and it will definitely not put in a corner as it comes in ad's , this will be the center screen .

Considering the population in India , all the scams which are the headlines in news nowadays , doesn even come near to the amount involved here..
Its like the Anniyan way , " 5 crore people steal 5 crore times 5 paise "  .

In short , ivangala'm ethana Shankar padam vandalum tirunda matanga .. !!

Its time to think about all these things happening in everyday life than to wonder about the scams which is involved in games which occurs once in say many years , like CWG in India .. Stopping from the easiest level is easy than to "TRY" stopping at the highest level .. ( DID ANYBODY TRY ?? ) .
Bottom up approach works here also , not only in programming  :)  :)

Diwali Delights !!

Diwali , festival of lights , is always a gud festival to celebrate..
Its a festival , which all age groups of people love to celebrate.. Thinking back in time,
durin school days, craze for crackers was alwas ther for evrybdy.. Though evrybdy know its a waste of money, still the enjoyment involved in crackers espcl. the fancy items, has no bounds..
Gradually , when we grow up , craze for fancy crackers move away but the vaccum which it leaves will be filled by all sort of bombs , hydrogen , atom , etc. etc.. and the most famous of all is the so called 'naatu vedi', the local one , which gives a real feel of bursting a bomb...
Then slowly the craze for bursting crackers moved away , and the vaccum is nevr let empty, its filled with all diwali release movies !! All big hero'es movies, usually will be lined up for the big screen for release on date of diwali..
A quite nice thinking of the past !!!

So y am I thinking of the past diwali's and not celebrating the current one.. ????

Now , even movies doesn fit into the bill for diwali celebration , its now frens and family.. Movies didn rise me up this time (( both new release movies are bad acc to reviews  )) , it was jus quality time wit all my frens..

We didn go for a night show movie, we didn eat out in a hotel , or didn go for a local trip to some nearby places, but jus kept on riding our vehicles chatting , stopping werever we wanted , in the dark streets ..In fact all of us returnd back to home late in the night , than it would have taken for a night show movie !! Phew.. Now diwali is a time for meeting with all ur close people , jus to spend some time wit them..Thanks to all my frens , it looks like many years have passed since our last jus-for-the-sake-of-it-trip,while its been only a mattr of months..

Thats about the current  diwali , still it doesn answer why am not celebrating it , it doesn't rite..
Cos the most important thing I learnt this time is to always plan ur trips, the art of "advanced booking" or "reservation of tickets" is the most important one ,which has eluded me so far, continues to do so..
 I had to start back to Bangalore , one day before itself as I didn have tickets ..

Huh !! Wat a reason for a entry !! :-)

Robot-- Review

I was thinking as  what to put up in the blog next .. i had a variety of processes , one for a movie review, one for a book review , one for the latest ind-aus test series , etc..the list seemed to be infinite, and my processor is surely not a fifo kinda thing , nor does it have any synchronization method ..

So here I am with the review of the las movie I saw , Endhiran the Robot..

This movie comes with a starcast which will make all heads turn , Rajnikanth , Aishwarya Rai, Shankar , A.R.Rehman , Rossul Pookuty , Vairamuthu , Ratnavelu are among the few Indians in this movie.. Its definitely not possible to satisfy all fans of the above stars.. Rajnikanth and Shankar doesnt it sound like a mix of sugar and salt..
 Shankar, is one of the industry's best director who is known for his exotic locations and power packed patriotic dialogues in his movie. His rise as a director from his first movie to his latest flick , has seen rise of a formula too , a formula which no one else can try too , "what if it happens " formula.. The final conclusion of the formula will definitely lead to a good nation with no corruption .. some instances of his formula , ordinary man stealing black money in gentleman ,father son duo father being freedom fighter ,son being a road transport officer involved in bribery in Indian, one day CM in Mudhalvan , multiple personality disorder affected person working for a clean nation in Anniyan , a gang of friends gone wrong in path of life and rediscovering life in Boys , etc..
Rajnikanth , a well rehearsed actor, who started his career as a villain ,then progressed as a hero , then as a boy out-door kinda hero , then as a mass hero.. Of late his formula has been the mantra for all the current generation hero's. His formula being rich in the start,poor jus before interval , and more powerful,wealthy in second half punishing the wrong-do'ers in the society , and he is accepted for all the things he does in his movie,starting from lighting of cigarrate and to tossing of coin and bubblegums ..
Doesn this combination seem wrong then !! Well the answer is NO. It has been proven good twice as of now.
Sivaji the previous movie , was a typical Rajnikanth movie , and was widely accepted too , though core Shankar fans were disappointed that some parts in the movie was just cos Rajnikanth is the hero..
While this time, Shankar comes out with a script and screenplay , completely from his heart , and has definitely NOT modified anything in the script for Rajnikanth. Full credits to his thinking and working team.
Rajni, the super star , has come with no introduction song,fight sequence,no punch dialogues, no special mannerisms, full credits to him , in spite of being such a hero , he still did wat the script demanded..
A special mention to Sun Pictures, the most powerful in current day media,for producing such a movie. None other than Shankar would have guts to take a movie with this starcast , budget , sun pictures , and ofcourse to deliver to the expecatations it created.
I feel i shouldn write anyhting about the story, but except for a particular thing. The scene after ,Chitti gets feelings programmed into, fights for his love with his creator. Dr.Vaseegaran when disassembling it, shouldn he have made it completely , couldn he have erased all his memory , like formatting or something, and he should have made sure that nobody outside can reconstruct it with the things he threw..(But its demanded in the story,thats for sure for the awesome climax and rest of the story,that the robot has to rise)..The way this particular scene was done alone could have been modified.. I guess may be the 2 guys who work in the lab, who are with a negative role , they should have been used here , like may be they didn do all things as per what Dr.Vaseegaran instructed or they just gave chitti to the villain.
Apart from this particular episode, the movie is a must watch for all people, a science fiction which can be understood by all people, a very good start for tamil film industry to dream big , and also of,course for the greater good of Indian Cinema..Its definitely the time for answering hollywood from Indians , may be next time with the graphic Engineers also being Indians.. Never mind abt that, even a century needs to be started from single , lets hope the best for future..

First of firsts

After a very long time, i have decided to try this out..Its been a very long time since i created a blogger account,

I used it for sometime , and deleted the account. Now I have decided to go with it whatever happens :)


Thanks to all the blogs i read , I felt I too should start one .. And here I am , but still don know what to post !!


When I came to know about blogging ,some years back, I thought whats there in it, its all our thoughts , there is no point in posting it , and I thought it will always be in my memory ,  and I wont forget those..


But time once again has done its magic, I forget things soon , and I wish I had blogged all those things whichever happened in my life , so that I can see them myself now , but now am with like a  recovered hard-disk , having partial data , and no back-ups..


So here I am to draft down t , so that I can read them myself in future , atleast will give me a nice time pass , and a nice laugh in the future :)

Oops , power cut, thk god my laptop is charged to last for some more time, even if all forces stop me from writin ths, i will continue :)
