Hi folks,
“tell me about yourself” is the universal standard ques for interview, for tat alwas the reply begins as ‘I am -----------……’ , you alwas tel ur name first,I don know y , cos its alwas there in ur resume !! Probably, long time back , someone took some other guy’s resume n went to the interview !! I remember my own interview still very well, formal shirt, formal pant, shoes , files, everything I borrowed and went !!
Coming back to the topic, name of a person will surely definitely determine one’s fate !! I don believe in numerology nor astrology..But still I believe name wil definitely have a impact.. Name is not jus for persons, it’s also for shops , companies, in fact everything …
For school student, it ll alwas be good , if our nex/prev roll nos are our frens,so tat it ll be easier in exams :)For a collg student, it ll alwas be better, if our nex/prev roll nos are good looking, yo kno y ..Pity me ,that too didn happen for me :(
And most important of all,attendance roll call, it ll be worse if u have ur name at the start , u ll alwas be called all of a sudden,If u r in between a talk or sleeping in class , u r in trouble..Also , there is high probability tat u r in first desk durin exams,leadin to complications there too…If ur name is last, u have to wait till all names are called out, and if ur name is in between , u have to be alert from the name 1 till urs..And some fancy nos are often called out by staffs regularly,to ask questions in between the sessions..This is all about name of persons, the main thing which amused me was a couple of weeks , I went to my native Tirunelveli..As the song from the movie , Saamy , says , tiunelveli is famous for halwa and rowdyism, in fact it’s almost similar to Rayalseema in Andhra..I was supposed to get down in a place called Vannarpettai, a small town before the new bus-stand,from there it wil be easier for me to go to our village..So I asked the conductor to wake me up once the bus reaches there,as it will be very early in the morning..And the conductor forgot,and hence I got down in the new bus-stand,where I have hardly gone..It was 4am in the morning,and it was full of people new to the city, and almost all shop’s were open ,by tat time itself !!

Whats there in a name
I was waiting for my bus to go to my place,and I found a interesting thing there,when I was jus looking at the stalls there..All of the shops had the same name , “Santhi Sweets” , I was shocked to see that. Some had captions even,”this is the original Santhi Sweets shop”. I went to Tirunelveli , after my final semester exams during May,that time I still remember getting Halwa from Santhi sweets , which was near the old bus-stand, way far from here.So I thought probably they moved out from there,and put up here instead..But was still wondering why the other shops had the same name, I knew this shop I talk about is very famous ,and they had only one outlet that time , in fact only one outlet from a long time back , may be even for ten years..Then I thought these shops must be fake, then I thought this will definitely affect the reputation of the original shop, and was looking at the boards once again,then I noticed , there was a small difference in the names of the shops, all had some letters extra,like Shanti sweets,Shanthi sweets,Sri Santhi sweets,etc etc,u can calculate the possible combinations using ur math..All had variations even in caption,so its definitely not the same name ,in all shops.
Then I took the bus to home,and when I was returning, I had to take train from tirunelveli, railway station is just opposite the old bus-stand. That time I had to take Halwa from Santhi sweets too,then I went to the original shop,and was shocked to see a board , that read , “ We have no outlets in new bus-stand, or anywhere “ .. Then to the biggest surprise,exactly 2 shops from the original shops,both sides fake Santhi sweets too exists,in the same line !! Pics attached ..
The above two are pics of the original Santhi sweets, the second board reads that they don have a brach near new bus-stand nor anywhere.
Then I thought,this shop is famous,but definitely not to the level of Iruttu Kadai, the most famous shop in Tirunelveli for Halwa.For all you people,not aware of the naming reason , this shop is near the famous Nellaippar temple, couple of kilometers away from the old bus-stand, is jus a small dungeon kinda thing, and it has a small lantern,and no other lightings,and will be open only by 6pm in the evening,and will be closed in a hour or two,by that time,their that da’s productions would have been sold like hot-cakes..And the highlight of the shop is,it doesn have a name board even,people call it Irruttu kadai (Dark shop) cos of the lighting there.

So why not Irruttu kadai fake shops are there in bus-stands , then I saw one shop in that name too,and was surprised,jus one !! Then I asked some locals there,they told me,that this shop guy,whoever is the owner of the fake shop,has registered the name ,and hence he has got the patent for it ,and has put case that the original shop guy has to remove the name,and the original shop owner's response, he doesn't even have a board !! And why not variations like Santhi sweets,cos many people know ,the naming reason,so the timing of the shop,and hence couldn afford to open the shop that time alone..Pic of the fake shop and original shop too attached..
So nex time somebody is going there,be careful in what yo buy,and I can assure you that,whatever yo get in trains by different vendors,and in buses ,its definitely not the original one !! Look out for the fake ones !!!

Beware of Midnight Dogs...
Hi all,
I had one idea in my mind,that blogs are meant to be fun,and thats wat I expect from reading blogs.. So i decided only good things should be in my blog, but after seein this movie, I had no other medium to vent out my anger..This is purely my point of view, and u may hav a entirely different look for the movie. Gautam Menon,whose movies are known for very good songs,and camera work , has tried a new idea for this,thats the only thing positive in the movie.. The story is about a psycho guy, its only about that. The movie says its based on a real life story, and I don know what was the original incidents,and whether those incidents in the movies are what happened really..NN , comes out of the banner of Photon Kathas, Gautam Menon's own production house ,and RS Infotainment , which produced VTV, Gautam Menon's previous flick.
The movie has no songs, no background sounds , which is a rare thing in Tamil Cinema, thats a brave attempt by Gautam Menon, kudos to him !! But from my perspective,he should have done that for some other decent subject,other than this.
Probably, his idea was to convey the real life incidents ,in real manner..
The camera work is done by Manoj Paramahamsa, of Earam and VTV fame. His work is really good in this movie again, his lighting has definitely improved from Earam, which was a Ghost movie,and this movie , which is a combination of all mental disorders as far as I know.
Kudos to his work,he has created the effect among the audience through his camera work, with no background sounds, thats really a terrific achievement, the climax part, he stands out clearly, he should hav definitely put in a lot of effort to convey the character's essence.
This is one of the very best camera efforts , among the movies, which I have seen. I have no idea about the camera work though, still if I can tell the amount of work involved,definitely people who are into photography and related stuffs will definitely appreciate hos work..
Then comes editing , Antony ,who is again the regular editor for his flicks from Kakka Kakka to this one, has done his best to create the thrill effect, which traditionally other movies induce by the sound effects. His cuts has been good, particularly during the climax , and scenes during the initial flashback. The psycho character's essence is made clear to the audience only thru his editing for sure.
Art direction again by Rajeevan, again a part of Gautam Menon's films from the past, has put his best in this too.
I guess as far as the critics go,this movie , is a great attempt , with the technicalities , and the story bein conveyed , the final message watever he intended to tel is told .
But from my perspective , who is jus another boy in this world, this movie , fails to arouse the thrill which the the movie said in its trailers, the story is too predictable , after the initial 15 mins, it took 1 hour to convey,how a psycho killer will feel , which I felt worse. Climax part is good, but on the whole my take on the movie is , why make such a movie,which is good only for the critics.
This movie , is definitely not for family audiences, and its promotion said it will be of genre of Sivappu Rojakkal, a BharathiRaja movie. I guess it didn fit exactly , the thrill part is missing, its only scary due to the vulgarity shown , there is alwas a difference between thriller and a scary picture, the former is lacking in this movie. The movie displays too much of vulgar content, which they have tried their level best , to reduce, but it cant be reduced more than this, as the plot itself is like that :(
And for the name , as Nadunisi Naigal , dogs come in the climax , as to thrill the audience in the climax scenes, but I feel it should have been much before, all we felt in the theater during that time was, when wil the climax end, so that we go out to see the result or highlights of the worldcup match..
My final take on this movie, a creditable achievement by Gautam Menon and team , but its worthy too watch Payanam or Yutham Sei or the world cup even, u can atleas save ur bucks for a better flick nex time !!
For all you people fans , of breezy romantic scenes of Gautam Menon , this is definitely not a movie for you folks ! For all people fans of movies, who love to see different kinda movie,this may be the one for you,no assurances ...
And for all VTV die hard fans, a small scene from this movie Nadunisi Naigal,comes in VTV !! Find it out !!

SIPS Reunion
Hi all,
Its going to be a year soon,since the day we came out of college, we are no longer freshers now,as all juniors even have got their offer letters..All my close frens are out of collg , and are doing wat they want,except for one guy,only guy who went to do medicine,as he didn want the Ctrl-X or Ctrl-C , Ctrl-V job..
Today, I was speaking with one of my friend, in company, we were seeing the holiday list , and our leave request tool,so as to find how many days we have leave for a year,it was coming in total to a month, huh.. Then i realized , my college time, we had one month of odd-semester holiday, and 2 months of even semester holidays,then diwali hols,pongal hols,onam hols,amma jayanthi hols,etc etc..Now I realize the value of those hols..
Wat else I thot,I miss now, my frens of course, the dark messy hostel .. Messed-up hostel rooms gave me more joy than neat houses,(though we don clean our house even now,occasionally we do wen someone comes to our house) untidy,muddy jeans gave me more fun than neat formals,(though I don wear formals, still my dress rack is full only with those,which I hardly use ),messages gave me more joy than phone-calls, of all the things , playing AOM gave me more fun than blogging, ( Now I have no other choice,other than this ).
I was jus thinking of all my frens,none of us are first-benchers,not-famous through out the college,hardly people knew us,outside our department initially, later it was all cos one thing we were labelled, and people found it amusing, we were labelled as SIPS Gang, in 3rd year,don knw which semester exactly..
SIPS , goes as "Samandam Ilamal Pesuvor Sangam" , was inspired from Kaipulla's Varuthapadatha Valipar Sangam,at that time Sangam was very popular, and hence we took the same..
SIPS is no where connected to academics,not logic,all we care is irrelevant stuffs,in fact the word logic is not there in SIPS's dictionary..
It all happened in A-401,don know wats the name of the hostel we wer,our third year hostel, wer esteemed Ashok,Gautham,Abi,Elavenil stayed..Ashok,gautham,Abi wer the ones who started this,and it spread like a dragon through out the college,and was immensely popular..It all began with gautham,who used to respond weird'ly when asked,it wil take some time for us to understand wat he spoke, god knows the reason why he started that..and we have to respond back to him,so the other 2 coined the word SIPS,and reply as sips to him,then it became popular slowly,from EEE Dept to CSE dept,and later slowly we started to reply back totally irrelevant to the question asked,and we had fun doing it..
For example, Comb your hair,as u r nt wearing ur ID card..For beginners it may sound as a dry joke,but only people who had done that ,wil feel the joy in doing so..The biggest publicity SIPS got was when our placement dept organized a college level contest ,to find the best guy proficient in giving speeches, during which all of us have to speak abt a topic, tat time one of my friend,Prakash , spoke about SIPS ,in front of training staff n students !!So it became popular among our batch guys,in all departments..Later we came to our hometown for our semester holidays and , we used to play,chat ,so it became little familiar to other college guys too..The biggest part was, during our final year,final semester,we went to IIT-Madras,for Saarang, a cultural fest, getting OD forms from dept in the name of CEGs Kurukshetra,a tech fest..During which we realized those students in IIT and CEG when speaking used the word SIPS,though they never knew it came from a dark room in Amrita Univ Coimbatore..Now , all of are in different places,and SIPS is spreading fast everywhere,even in my company,some of my frens know!! Once u are into it,no way u can come out if it,and someway r the other u wil definitely reply as SIPS..
The sensation which began in A-401 , traveled to G-141 in final year hostel,and the rest is history !!
Couple of things,which I have still in my memory, our tour to Valparai in final year, and our SIPS video for alumuni meet..We made a video , out n out for fun , dedicated to our seniors , during last year's alumni meet,and we won the first prize for it too..The movie is not for critics to rate but, to enjoy , the movie is of type VenkatPrabhu , directed movie, our SIPS gang's favourite director..
For SIPS to live , there were significant contributions from 2 people , namely Master Sai , and Legend Gautham, the adaimozhi indicates their post in the gang, Legend and Master are the 2 posts which are in the highest level in our gang,and both wil be occupied by these 2 forever !!

I never expected to go to alumni meet again , but thinking of alumni meet made me think about my college life again, and hence am moving to coimbatore this weekend for meeting my SIPS fellow-mates..

Ad's a galore..
Hi all,
I am just back to bangalore, and was totally disconnected from media , for the past one week.. I was reading the dailies,which we get daily, and was seeing tv, and realized , world cup fever is gripping the nation ,that all channels show the practice matches news,and grounds and ticket sales news,ground preparation etc..Papers show news about the past worldcups, and a dedicated column for the God , as most likely this is his last worldcup..Me too eagerly waiting for ticket for Ind-Eng match in bangalore, (if someone can get it,please get for us too..)
Coming to the topic, we all know ad's and their importance for a business to run. Stars, who have a wide reach will endorse products , and the product is known to all soon.. All people in TN would have seen , stars doing ad's for jewelery , thats cos there are many vendors , and each vendor wants to attract customers,thru ad's.. Even in certain movies, they ll show a brand if brand wishes so, for eg. in Chandramukhi , u can see hoarding of Dada's ad for Tata Indicom in many scenes, Sachin and Tirupachi , Vijay has scenes associated with Sunfeast , and in 'Goa', a VenkatPrabu movie , which doesn have big starts, still has many scenes with Mentos ad boards..
And now its cricket time , cricket stars are coming for ad's a lot, and now this time , brands have gone to fetch foreign stars too..Cric stars , endorse variety of products, eatables, electronics,watches, softdrinks and airlines even..I still remember 2003 worldcup, India went in for the semi's with a very good performance in group stages, and that time, to celebrate , in my place , Neyveli, they made a big screen , in many places to see the match wit a very good environment, I still remember seein the semi-final and final match in a park,jus a stone's throw , from my house..India was chasing a mammoth score in the final , Sehwag was the only one who gave India hope that time, and he was endorsing Reliance mobiles tat time,and ad shows him hitting a six, and we all will erupt in joy and shout..We all knew , its jus an ad,but at that time , all we needed was such kinda shots, so we all happily enjoyed that ad even..
Out of many ad's which come out,only few survive and gain the intended attention of the people..Ad's , though it comes jus for a min,it involves a lot of thinking, and making ads is defn not a cake-walk. Some ad's which i find very good , and still remember Sachin's 'Main kaun hu' ad during that worldcup, and 'Come on India' slogan ad, during 99 world cup..
This worldcup , many companies are in ads with cricket stars, but the best one which I rate among them is Pepsi..They have made a interesting series of ad's with Cricket stars..The best one among their worldcup ads is Peterson's and Dhoni's..I like the "Official Sponsor of Helicopter shot" caption a lot. And the Peterson ad too for the reverse sweep..I wonder if they tried to rope in Dilshan for the reverse scoop. If Misbah , had won the inaugral T20 worldcup for Pakistan, then definitely he would have got the ad for that shot ,which made the final very grippin til the end..
Pepsi's ad for Pakistan, is almost similar to the FIFA worldcup ad of Pepsi , sometime back with Brazilian stars..
For India , they have roped in each star in a seperate ad, bhajji for Dhoosra,Sehwag's about to come soon,Dhoni for helicopters shot..
All stars are somehow in ad's and they earn a lot thru ad's, and no harm in that ,as long as they do what they are supposed to do in the ground. Studio and Ground , though different, ones presence in ground , will definitely take him into the studios..
We buy , products endorsed by stars, all we need in return from them is to win the cup for us..Hope they do that !!
Go for Pepsi,the official sponsor of the ICC worldcup 2011, The cup that matters...!!!

Even in certain movies, they ll show a brand if brand wishes so, for eg. in Chandramukhi , u can see hoarding of Dada's ad for Tata Indicom in many scenes, Sachin and Tirupachi , Vijay has scenes associated with Sunfeast , and in 'Goa', a VenkatPrabu movie , which doesn have big starts, still has many scenes with Mentos ad boards..
And now its cricket time , cricket stars are coming for ad's a lot, and now this time , brands have gone to fetch foreign stars too..Cric stars , endorse variety of products, eatables, electronics,watches, softdrinks and airlines even..I still remember 2003 worldcup, India went in for the semi's with a very good performance in group stages, and that time, to celebrate , in my place , Neyveli, they made a big screen , in many places to see the match wit a very good environment, I still remember seein the semi-final and final match in a park,jus a stone's throw , from my house..India was chasing a mammoth score in the final , Sehwag was the only one who gave India hope that time, and he was endorsing Reliance mobiles tat time,and ad shows him hitting a six, and we all will erupt in joy and shout..We all knew , its jus an ad,but at that time , all we needed was such kinda shots, so we all happily enjoyed that ad even..
Out of many ad's which come out,only few survive and gain the intended attention of the people..Ad's , though it comes jus for a min,it involves a lot of thinking, and making ads is defn not a cake-walk. Some ad's which i find very good , and still remember Sachin's 'Main kaun hu' ad during that worldcup, and 'Come on India' slogan ad, during 99 world cup..
This worldcup , many companies are in ads with cricket stars, but the best one which I rate among them is Pepsi..They have made a interesting series of ad's with Cricket stars..The best one among their worldcup ads is Peterson's and Dhoni's..I like the "Official Sponsor of Helicopter shot" caption a lot. And the Peterson ad too for the reverse sweep..I wonder if they tried to rope in Dilshan for the reverse scoop. If Misbah , had won the inaugral T20 worldcup for Pakistan, then definitely he would have got the ad for that shot ,which made the final very grippin til the end..
Pepsi's ad for Pakistan, is almost similar to the FIFA worldcup ad of Pepsi , sometime back with Brazilian stars..
For India , they have roped in each star in a seperate ad, bhajji for Dhoosra,Sehwag's about to come soon,Dhoni for helicopters shot..
All stars are somehow in ad's and they earn a lot thru ad's, and no harm in that ,as long as they do what they are supposed to do in the ground. Studio and Ground , though different, ones presence in ground , will definitely take him into the studios..
We buy , products endorsed by stars, all we need in return from them is to win the cup for us..Hope they do that !!
