Hi all,
Its been a week full of happenings, what are they? Sample responses..We celebrated our Independence day, We lost our numero rank one status in test cricket by a series, which is going to end mostly in a whitewash.
Is this the most important thing happened this week..
Huh ! Thats India, people worry about cricket, worry about rising gold prices, and not give a thought about the social concern. How many of us atleast read through the Lokpal, leave reading how many of us know whats it about ?
I am ok with JanLokpal and I do have certain questions on it, as it questions the main functionality of Parliament, and creates a new parallel supreme power. I agree, I haven fasted, nor I went in streets to support Anna, but atleast I was keen on the happenings, and I am just another Indian who wishes Anna and his team, a peaceful walk, and hoping that nothing of the sort of Baba-Ramdev-incident happens.
The point of this post is not whether I am a good citizen or not, nor about you, its about the people who are great, who are doing things for the sake of the people, for the sake of us, for the sake of so called citizens of this great democratic country.
I was hesitant to write a post on this, as I should admit myself that I am not corrupt-free. Each one of us, ( sorry, if I had insulted you,if u consider yourself to be clean), which includes me as well, are corrupt, the magnitude of the corruption however vary I agree. Probably all my readers are in age group of 25 plus or minus, so we are more or less say 7 years since legally becoming a major, how many of us have cast our votes during election, set aside election, all of us have got driving licence, passport, ration card etc, did we get them all legally, to make it even simpler do we know the original legal procedure involved in it ? How many of us declared our IT Returns correctly, haven we bribed a cop than paying the original legal fee involved for the mistake we did ?
Haven we cheated in the examinations during our schooling or graduation or continuing even in post graduation, haven we cheated in our resumes, that's also corruption, by doing those we have somewhere spoiled a chance of much better deserving candidate who has done everything legally, and the point of who deserves best again in our country is a big question, passing through all the reservations for getting a small work in a govt office is a tough job.
I am not against reservations, nor for it, I am confused on that I agree. So I don't comment on it. I belong to an XYZ community, and I have had both advantages and disadvantages of belonging to it, so why question the disadvantages alone, while enjoying the advantages?
So the point is everybody is corrupt, we are corrupt to our level possible, and politicians to their level, as simple as that. Corruption is not an external thing, that we all can speak of, its there inside each and every one of us. I agree, following all the rules is sometimes irritating, and doing a work in a govt office is much easier through a broker than doing it on our own, but it's the thing which we all have decided, and made the system, we have made the system like that, and we are not questioning it, and we complain of corruption. A classic example of what we all say is seen in the below video.
This movie came when I was in tenth grade, I thought its only the politicians whom its targeted at, but now if I see it, I get a whole lot of thoughts about it. During that time, Sourav's performance was in radar, and I thought , the highlight of the video was about the line, which says about cricket. But now, see it for yourself..
To read about Anna Hazare or Lokpal, you can always google,(please do if you haven done so far), reading through all the papers, blogs, I figured many things, that said things to me. Whether Hazare and team wins by getting their version of Lokpal or not, is not my concern, my concern is the way the Govt dealt with it, they succumbed to pressure of the common people, whom they thought wont bother, alas Indians hopefully have got a wake up call, and we are yet to receive a alarming call, which will make a drastic change. For those people who say Lokpal is not practically possible, I agree with them too, but atleas we need some change to begin with, if you have thoughts on it, dont just complain on it, send it to the concerned people, send it to the forum which serve as the platform for communication to Hazare, but dont just complain of it. The law is made by the citizens, and hence complaining against it is not the right solution, but providing the solution is the right way to go.
Corruption wont change overnight but everything needs a beginning, as said in one of my favorite movies, For a century, you need to begin with singles , support for it, make changes in it rather than complain.
I hold Anna Hazare in a very high esteem personality, and read a recent article on a leading journal , that he is none other than a old retired army lorry driver who is seeking power, for the one seeking power, people wouldnt have bothered to come and support in such a large number, for the one seeking power, people wouldn fast, the one bothering power, wouldn fast continuously, wouldn have gone against the govt, when given an opportunity to join the party on a high power post.
I dont want to give link to that post, and thereby increase hits to that post, leading to a wrong impression for that author. Last but not least, even if not supporting, dont be a hindrance to it..Think of the great man, who spent days along with the ones whom he is against at. Arresting Raja,Kalmadi took ages, while arresting Anna took only a day, thats our state. Support for the man, the way he is doing the protest, if not for the cause, but atleas for the way he is doing it. !

Bye til nex,
nice one da..
ReplyDelete"Even if you are not supporting it, do not be a hindrance to it." i do not agree with this line da. If one believes that these protests are wrong, as a responsible citizen, he should spread awareness among people against it (just as you are trying to spread awareness for it). That is what the the author of the blog you mentioned has done. The "truck driver" and "power hungry" comments are just political satire, just look at the main theme of the blog.
I agree with you that everyone one of us is corrupt. More than this video, the court scene, where ambi's father accuses a whole bunch of people for his daughter's death, would have been apt.
Btw, one small step towards reducing corruption is to avoid pirated YouTube videos in the blog:)
Very well written.. A few glitches here and there but thought is clean. Had every indian thought on the same lines as you do there wd ve been no need of any Lokpal or other bills :)
