Cricket Appraisal

Hello all,
Its appraisal time of the year, and after yesterday's collapse I got so frustrated seeing it, and was just thinking what India did after world cup. So lets do a appraisal of Indian Cricket for this year.

I feel we had no significant outings this year, we lost invariably everywhere.
Well this is how an appraisal by you and me will look like, if we have one with Indian Cricket team .
Considering our current trend, it seems it will be difficult to have an month without having an scandal, without having an unwanted arrest, without having an series loss , without having an report from Kejriwal about some scam. That perfectly explains the state of Indian cricket.

Arrest Warrant issued to you and me !

Hi all,
Well this might turn out to be my last blog post even. No one knows when one gets arrested for what.
And even you can get arrested as you have been reading my blog posts.

Okay, you still have the guts to read, and me too I still feel I can write.
Indian government law is mixed up, there are too much complicated and twisted , twisted enough for benefit of some. That some definitely does not include the common man, so no use for you and me.

Weekend ramblings..

Hello all,
Well I have been busy completely, and weekends now have become entirely time to doze off. Now that we have moved to a new house, we dont have anything literally in the new house when compared to the previous one, as the previous one was a fully furnished house.

Comparison

Hello all,

All our life we have been living comparing our life with someone else's . Comparison is both good and bad. Comparison can lead one to improve , and can make one feel depressed too. One should ideally compare one with oneself, it will lead to improvement rather than complaining after comparing with some one else.
The problem with us is, we compare to someone else whom we know , mostly to the person whom we hate.

Acid test

Hi all,
Indian cricket is back again, and with a convincing win in Srilanka, the season has opened up with a bang ! Virat Kohli's heroics was the highlight of the tournament, and he will be definitely a player to watch out for , and to the other extent Rohit Sharma is struggling hard to make the scorers work, he hardly had given any work for them last series.

Grow up!

Hello all,
"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.” - Isaac Asimov
Well, last week there was this shooting in Denver during the screening of the Dark Knight Rises, well it shook me literally, and I never expected something of this sort to happen in a country like US, well for me US is all about tall buildings, developed nation, as it comes in movies, pretty much arrogant, that's all the opinion I had of it.

Journey within

Hello all,
I have just returned from one of my trips, and I never expected that I will ever go on a onsite trip, this came totally out of the blue. I had expected a trip sometime before, when I was told I will be traveling, but that never happened, and I never imagined anything about it later. Now that it happened, I went to some places, which I have never heard of, and some which we all have seen in movies. The trip was good, the main reason why I went, to code,  that also went good.

What's so funny about IT

Hello all,
Well again am back ! Hopefully this time again without a break..

Well, this week am completing my two years of employment, and I am really thankful to God for this !
On a note, as last weekend being father's day, I thank my Dad, for making me what I am today, thanks Dad !
With lot of stuffs going on, some crazy, some emotional, some unexpected, some unwanted, its been a i-dont-know-what-to-call LIFE, my thoughts were just rambling, without having any destination to arrive at, suddenly it struck me that am close to completion of two years of employment, and I just looked back my life before and after, what a change it has been !
Then I realized, there is nothing big in completing two years of employment, but completing in IT industry is definitely a big deal.
Well, for non-IT people I can see that you are not agreeing to it, well that's true too, the grass is always greener on the other side. !
For what people say for this, " Completing 2 years in sitting at a desk is not a big deal " , " 8 hours of internet a day ! Thats life man ! " , " 8 hours you sit, what is bothering about one more hour ! " , " Free Coffee, you can take a break whenever you want, what else you need ? " , " No uniform " These are just some, the list will add on , and that can be a separate blog post even.
Now, those things seem to give a picture that, IT people are the people who enjoy the most, as always appearance is always deceptive.
We are the people who have to attend calls late in the night, have to stay back for Americans to wake up, so that we dont disturb their sleep, but sacrificing ours. Ok I understand, every job is equally tough, the only thing matters is whether we like it or not, there is no point working without liking it.
But if not respecting it, at-least do not make it as if its a silly thing. Take a volvo bus, from ITPL to silkboard in the evening, ( For non-Bangalore folks, ITPL is the tech park in one corner of Bangalore, where you can find lots of companies) , you get to know what all IT people go through, some will be discussing about their clients, some about the issues they are facing, some doing the work even in bus, with their laptops, some doing their work over the phone. You can feel the amount of work which goes in IT, during the 20km journey. What people see on the other hand, is that IT pays more, that's why they use the Volvo service, which is costlier than the regular bus service.
And more than that, whenever I speak with some college grads, they ask, " Do you know Python ?, Do you know Java Swing, Do you know XYZ," , if we say no, their mind voice reads, " Come on, this guy knows nothing, and he has a job, so getting a job in IT is so easy ! ", well I agree partially on this, probably we are not updated with everything, but we have to get updated constantly with what we work on, when I was in college, Java was common, if some guy knows Servlets, its like king, if some guy knew Python, he was a geek, and now it would have changed , cos there are so many things coming up, which I can say, is unique in this field, there is no other field where dynamism is as random as here, probably, you can never quantize it.
And even more, we get calls from relatives and friends to book tickets in IRCTC or some bus or for a movie, and say like, " Come on , you work with computers all day, thats what you guys do rite ? " . We book tickets accepting your relationship, not because we work in computers, do we sit all day in IRCTC, Facebook, Mails etc. ( I agree, it will take atleast half a day to book a ticket in IRCTC, that's not part of this deal  :) )
And top of that, we get calls, " My system is not working, my pendrive is not working, my internet is not as speed as the service provider promised ", and if we don't have a solution to it, " What did you learn for four years, and you call yourself an Engineer ? ". I have really no answer to this, what I learn in my course, has helped me to get a job, to sustain in the job, but to call myself an Engineer, well, its half and half.
And more, people ask , " Dont you have Windows 7 installation disk, Dont you have Office setup, Dont you have Photoshop, blah blah , then at last, " You work in IT, and you dont have any of these ? ", come on we are not salespeople neither the ambassadors of these, why do you expect us to carry these or even have this !
So I have suffered this endurance for 2 years now, and I have to continue it too, as I have many bugs to fix before I sleep, and many calls to attend before I leave.

And the moment of truth,  I dont know the answers for all the questions people ask, but nevertheless I call myself a Software Engineer !

Regards,

Studies again

Hi all,
Its been 4 months since I made a resolution to make posts regularly, but whatever I plan, nothing happens as such, and I  just make it up as I go along like JackSparrow !!

Some decisions happen at an instant, while take a lot of time to plan, execute etc.. One such decision which I took at an instant is when my friend Vignesh anna told me to join a MS program for IT Corporate, as he has joined. It was during our morning coffee corner talks, that he told me this, and in the evening I was in the bank to get the DD to pay the fee. It was all very instantaneous, I have never even heard of it before, just on the go, decided with a couple of calls to my parents, brother-in-law. Dont know what would have happened if they had said No, but everybody was for it, and I thought if everybody says so, why not try a hand at it. Fortunately or Unfortunately my mind has a unique algorithm, which everyone else finds difficult to understand,  ( in fact even I dont even understand it, how much ever time I spend time on it, I can never analyse my algorithm to find about its complexity :-) ), it decided all of a sudden to go for it. So I joined , it was Jan-2-2011, where I went for my first class, I had already missed the induction and first class, as I joined late. I sat in one corner of the class along with Vignesh anna, just like in my Btech,in one of the difficult to reach corner of the class. Class went on, we had a small gang of tamilians lined up together in that corner in the evening session. Its really one of the most grueling sessions one can think of, morning 9 to evening 645, and if tests are there its from morning 8 to 9 ! And exams happen in 9 days out of the 12 days we have for each phase. The first person whom I met is Thileeban ,  who was working in HP that time, and later we referred him and he joined in SAP and joined our gang in company also. While everybody was busy taking notes in class, Thileeban formed a separate league, he never wrote anything, unless under a compelling situation, for the whole course he used only the small notepad which the university had given on the first day. For the whole course, he never had any other note in his hand. The next person we met was Henry Sukumar , he is my college senior as well, though super-to-super-to-super senior he is.! He will fill up his notebook fully, but with designs for his website, lyrics of his favorite songs,  some stuffs related to his websites, he is one who aspires to be a businessman, plans to have a company on his own, working always towards it. We were all sitting together, and after a couple of classes came VinodKumar who was in black and black , as he was going to Sabarimala that time. Our first periodicals came, we had one test per day, he had studied all 3 subjects taught during that phase, we were like 'why did we join this ?!?' ..

Then slowly we started relaxing, the college where we went was near to the Central mall, Big Bazzar, so every weekend our purchase was during the class time, we will come during the attendance time for sure. Depending on the staff, we will decide whether to attend fully, or just a part of the session for the attendance. Vinod had come back, after his trip to Sabarimala, then his true colours came to the picture, whatever you can name it, as things not to be done before starting to read or coming to college, he did them all ! Thileeban, was at his best, he will be very active during the lunch session, searching for every hotel which had Nonveg, Chicken Biriyani being his regular meal. Then came our first semester, where we all assembled in Vignesh anna's place to study, it was the day before our first exam in the semester, Vinod called us up before assembling 'Shall I buy bonda Bhajji, I am just starting from home' , Henry said 'No problem we just had tea and snacks' , for which Vignesh said ' No problem, buy and come, we all will eat, dont consider Henry's opinion' , and so did Vinod. On the day of the exam we were all spending more time in restroom than preparing for the exams. This was how our first exam in the first semester went..
We assembled like the same way to prepare for the second sem , this time in Vinod's place, believe it or not, the house owner was that Bhajji Bonda shop owner ! This time we were so conscious that we never ate anything extra, we had all natural drink, tender coconut atleast twice a day, while Vinod alone had his own brand of drinks, for preparing to exams, to keep him awake from sleeping, and some for sleeping too !
Thats the funny part of the course, but really saying completing the course is a very tough job to complete, we all being bachelors, found it difficult to manage, as regular office work will be there during weekdays, weekends this, you dont have even a single day to relax, but people who were married, even got kids prepared well and completed the course with full sincerity and dedication, managing office work, household stuffs and this ! I would have never completed the course, without these friends, would have stopped going to the class if they hadn't be there, and to all the proxies they managed for me, all the proxies we did for each other, the tests we managed to write, exam group study..
Everyone else except me had a motive for completing this, they had immediate prospectus after getting the degree, I was the one who went to the class, without any idea, so if these people wouldn have been there, I would have had a high chance of dropping out of the course.. Now with my weekends available for me, I dont know whats in store for me next, I have to catch up with the works which I have left over a period of time doing this course, lets c, blogging also is one among them !

Bye til nex,

Our Very Own..

Hello all,
After a break , am back.. My last post, last year, I made a resolution that I should continue blogging , but as usual, like all my previous year resolutions, that too went awfully wrong.
A lot of work kept me infact over occupied, the results of which will mostly be in my next blog post , if successful :)
